The Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Design is a higher education programme focused on the study, design, development and supervision of the production and construction of solutions for interior and exterior environments.
Due to its broad scope, the programme operates across different scales of design — from objects and equipment conceived in direct relation to their spatial context, to small-scale spaces for individual use, nomadic and temporary environments, as well as permanent interior and exterior spaces of a hybrid nature.
The programme also explores solutions for the urban environment, including street furniture, wayfinding and communication systems, modular structures and micro-housing, work and leisure spaces, as well as interventions in the design of small-scale green spaces.
Environmental Design projects may be developed for both public and private contexts, including residential, commercial and industrial environments, exhibitions, leisure spaces, scenography, green spaces and digital or virtual environments. The discipline encompasses the creation and organisation of new spaces, as well as alternative approaches to redesigning, redefining and reorganising existing environments.
Environmental Design also addresses environmental preservation, regeneration and enhancement, particularly when integrated into architectural, landscape and urban planning processes.
